The burial ground in Boston Common is the resting place of early patriots, among them the composer William Billings – the latter, by assumption rather than documentation. Historians will note that the headstones in the city’s oldest graveyards no longer stand over their intended bodies, but were moved around by convenience.
Boston is a rich and varied destination – the Hub of New England, or the Universe, as they used to say. Living a little more than an hour to the north, we’re well within its orb.

New England is a great area to visit…
Are you counting the days till Laconia?
I travelled there last year but this year my big trip in May / June is going to be taking the ferry to mainland Europe and travelling thro’ France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Austria at least. You will be able to see the posts of course.
We’re envious! Sounds like a trip of a lifetime.
Did a big European trip a few years ago. Ferry to France, up through Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Luxenbourg, France, couple of days in the Loire Valley. This will be at least equally as good 🙂
I visited Boston once, way back in the ’70s. It absolutely oozed history. Fascinating place.
It’s changed a lot since then, too, especially with the Big Dig. And yes, it still oozes history.
