WOODPECKER REPORT NO. 26

by Jnana Hodson

while a small world away
from the same slice of the state
her ex-husband
ever so casually settles in together
with her first boyfriend
for a meal
in a U.S. Army mess tent outside Baghdad

despite the name tags, one apparently
doesn’t recognize the other, who does
and despises him all the same

after all, they’re from different units

~*~

That’s what Woodpecker said.
